PSYCHOTHERAPY
I offer integrative psychotherapy as a treatment that can help you to address and overcome complex, longstanding or pervasive issues in your life. Psychotherapy aims to explore behavioural patterns and emotional realities that originate from a person's history, experience, beliefs and personality.
I work with adults and adolescents (16+) encountering a wide range of emotional and life challenges, including:
Anxiety
Depression and mood disorders
Loss of purpose and meaning
Trauma and PTSD
Complex/relational trauma (C-PTSD)
Substance and process (behavioural) addictions
Relationship and intimacy difficulties
Life transitions and loss
Self-esteem and identity
Prolonged grief
The aim in psychotherapy is less about "fixing" symptoms and more about building a space in which to explore your emotions, cultivate perspective and foster courage and self-acceptance. By exploring your experience together, we can shift how you move through the world and how you relate to yourself and others. Another way of saying it would be that engaging in therapy involves an intention to move from hoping to "feel better" towards a commitment to becoming "better at feeling". This process supports emotional growth, increases creative energy, and enhances your capacity to make conscious, autonomous choices in your life.
The time needed for meaningful change to occur depends on your situation. Therapy is not a quick-fix process, though meaningful change can occur rapidly with engagement and commitment. Psychotherapy is an investment of time, money, and emotional effort. Through this investment, I have seen many clients achieve lasting, meaningful transformation.
If you are curious but unsure of your needs, I invite you to get in touch to discuss your situation.
