Uri Auerbach is a Sydney based fashion, beauty and portraiture photographer. Discovering photography at the age of twelve, Uri studied art at various colleges and worked as a jewellery designer before completing a degree in philosophy (Avedon had one too!)

Prior to commencing his own projects, Uri spent six years learning his craft assisting A-list photography greats such as Mary Ellen Mark, Jeff Bark and Timothy White in studios from Sydney to Paris and New York. This wealth of experience has allowed Uri to excel at a wide variety of assignments, from finely nuanced daylight portraits to highly technical studio shoots. Drawing inspiration from a rich variety of disciplines, his work has been described as “portraits that look like fashion shoots and fashion shoots which look like portraits”.

Shooting his own work since 2004, Uri's photography has been featured in magazines such as Madison, Oyster, Cosmopolitan, Cleo and Grazia. His moody work for Sydney Theatre Company's 2005 season won several prizes and great critical acclaim. He has since shot campaigns for clients including Warner Music, Sunglass Hut, Universal Music, Suzanne Grae, Inter Continental Hotels and Fuzzy Events.

Uri is frequently commissioned to shoot actors, artists and musicians. His portfolio includes internationally renowned artists such as Lady Sovereign, Dizzee Rascal, Tina Arena, Miranda Otto, M.I.A., Diplo, Groove Armada, Soulwax, Justice, Peaches, Digitalism, Grinspoon and Decoder Ring.

Never one to be restricted by the fashion genre, Uri has just returned from a trip around Yemen where he shot a book on the Jambia (dagger) trade. He is also currently completing a Master of Photomedia and working on an exhibition of large-format film works exploring crowds at music festivals.
