Uri Auerbach is a fashion and portraiture photographer, who discovered photography by making photograms in his basement at the age of twelve. After failing high school and his jewellery design diploma by spending too much time in the college darkrooms, Uri worked as a screen printer, locksmith, video store clerk and fashion retail manager, before finally figuring out that photography was the career he should have chosen long before.
Prior to embarking on his own shooting career, Uri spent six years assisting photography greats such as Mary Ellen Mark, Jeff Bark and Timothy White, in studios from Paris to New York.
Since commencing his own projects in 2004, Uri’s work has been published internationally in magazines such as Madison, Oyster, Cosmopolitan, Cleo, New Woman, and Woman’s Day.
His celebrity portraits have featured on numerous album covers, as well as in many international publications and Sydney Theatre Company’s season brochure for 2005, which won him great critical acclaim. Other advertising clients include Warner Music, Universal Music, Suzanne Grae, Sunglass Hut, InterContinental Hotels and Fuzzy Events.
Uri has travelled around Australia and internationally to shoot actors, artists and musicians such as Dizzee Rascal, Diplo, Groove Armada, Miranda Otto, Soulwax, Justice, M.I.A., Peaches, Digitalism, The Crystal Method, Larry Tee, Grinspoon and Decoder Ring.
